During an interview with a potential new hire, the candidate posed the question, “What’s SpringTree’s vision statement?” Initially, I responded with our tagline, “Where software grows...” However, her question left me wondering about our company’s true vision and distinctiveness. I was hesitant to give a canned marketing response, but I also didn’t want to overlook such an important aspect of our company.
Later, a colleague asked a similar question, which prompted me to take action. I felt compelled to write down our company’s vision, something that would genuinely capture the essence of who we are. After careful consideration, I have crafted a statement that I am proud to share with you all.

Origin story of SpringTree
The company originated with like-minded individuals wanting to start a company that would treat customers and software developers with equal importance. By fostering an environment where these two worlds can communicate and collaborate effectively, we believe great things can be achieved. There is no need to add intermediaries that cause white noise and hinder the flow of creativity and innovation.

What does SpringTree mean?
Let’s face it, there is no such thing as a “SpringTree”. We chose this name as our company name because trees are rooted in soil, symbolizing our down-to-earth approach. We do not condescend to our software developers or customers, as you can read in our origin story. Trees are organic systems that grow, branch out, and never stop changing. What you pay attention to grows. This is how we approach software development. We are not a one-trick pony and are always willing to kill our darlings if it means creating a better product. Spring is the season of change. Things that may seem dead on the surface can come back to life and thrive again. This reflects our attitude towards innovation and technology, which can achieve great things in the right hands. So while there may not be a SpringTree in nature, we embody its spirit in our work. You won’t find us in the forest, but in our office, and we are excited to meet you.
